Congratulations to the following members who received pins at the RAMM for 25 years of membership in Sweet Adelines: Luanne Blaylock - Top of the Rock, Beverly Collier - Ozark Showcase, Nancy Gardner, Janice Purpura, Carol Rogers - Rich-Tone, Jacqueline Grantham - Palo Duro Metro, Terri Morton - OK City, Betty Jean Murray - Heart 'O the Hills
The International Side-By-Side Director Seminar in Detroit is coming up in July and Region 25 will have ELEVEN Directors attending! Wow! If your chorus was unable to send your Director this year you have another chance. Start saving now in a special fund for the next International Director Seminar in 2011. The education at this level is extraordinary and well worth the investment in your Director.

Is your chorus having a show?
Then we want to hear about it!
Region 25 keeps a calendar of all show dates and regional happenings and we want to add yours to the list. Be sure your show date is on the calendar by sending an email to me, Sharon Hightower, slhightower@yahoo.com, as soon as you can. Also, be sure to check the calendar for conflicts - like regional meetings, etc...
Show dates must be cleared through me before they can be added to the calendar. If your show date is planned in conflict with an International or Regional meeting it will NOT be cleared and therefore NOT added to the calendar. (You can have the show, it just will not be "advertised" on the calendar).
We want to come to your show! Make sure everyone knows about it by sending your show dates ASAP! Thanks! Sharon Hightower, Team Coordinator

There has been quite a bit of interest in the Director Certification Program (DCP) in the last couple of years and many have completed the program. It's not just for Directors and Assistant Directors. Any member can enroll and participate to earn an Approved Director level! If you have any questions or want to know more about the DCP please contact me.

Sympathy -- We were saddened at the loss of three of our dear members this past year. Joni Bescos (Rich-Tone), Twyla Franks (Oklahoma Jubilee) and Jackie Hall (Director of Mesquite Magic) were remembered by a moment of silence at the RAMM. They leave a legacy for us all in their dedication to this organization.

This year's Ark Angel Award winner is Mary Rhea from Oklahoma City. As a Navy wife, Mary found herself in a variety of regions. Mary earned international chorus medals with Gem City and with Pride of Baltimore. She even started a prospective chapter in Germany while her husband, Russell, was stationed there. Russ' final assignment to the state of Washington allowed Mary to quartet with good friend and Showmanship judge, Melanie Wroe. In spite of their travels, the Rheas have always been Sooners and, following Russ' retirement, they made their move back home to Oklahoma.
After settling in Oklahoma City, Mary became baritone section leader and one of the assistant directors for the OK City Chorus. As baritone of Kismet, she earned four Region 25 quartet gold medals. In 2005, Kismet finished in the top 15 internationally, which garnered them a spot in the following year's international competition and allowed them to bypass the 2006 regional quartet contest but they won every other contest between the years of 2003-2007.
Mary served on the Regional Management Team as the Directors' Coordinator, is currently a member of the Educational Steering Committee and a Region 25 Faculty Member. Following the retirement of Master Director, Jim Massey, Mary was selected to be the new director of the OK City Chorus. Mary was a judge candidate in the Sound Category and recently completed her first official panel assignment.
Mary Rhea is always willing to share her wealth of knowledge of the craft of barbershop harmony and her joy is contagious. After building their new dream home in Norman, the Rheas intend for this to be their "last frontier" and we in Region 25 are just fine with that.

"IT'S IN THE CAN"
The Young Singers Foundation (YSF) is the official charity of Sweet Adelines International and provides grants and scholarships to ensure that music continues to affect the lives of young men and women around the world. At The Team Leader Luncheon at competition, your Team Leader or President was given a packet with information about "It's In The Can" and was asked to appoint a YSF liaison for each chorus.
If each chorus can raise the equivalent of $20 per member from 100 percent of it's members you will be named Gold Medalists. If you raise 80% you will be named Silver Medalists. If you raise 70% you will be named Bronze Medalists. The names of all medalists will be acknowledged on the Foundation's website, in The Champion, The Foundation's semi-annual electronic newsletter, and in the Foundation's pages of The Pitch Pipe.
Share your spare change with the Young Singers Foundation. Put it in the can! Let's GO FOR THE GOLD!!!!!!
Please feel free to get with me at any time with any questions or concerns at brendabari@hotmail.com or call me at (806) 831-6658.
