RUMORS TO DONATE NEW CHAMPION QUARTET TRAVELING TROPHY
Submitted by Marva Hughes

After years of "traveling," the Ark Angels champion quartet traveling trophy is "full" and will be retired after the upcoming regional quartet competition. The trophy, provided by the Ark Angels quartet from Little Rock, has been presented each year to Region 25's first place quartet. Rumors, 1999 International champion quartet, has generously offered to provide a new traveling trophy. Interestingly, Rumors' name never appeared on the Ark Angels trophy. Without ever winning the regional championship, they went to the International stage as a wildcard quartet in 1994 and never competed again in a regional competition! "We're very pleased and honored to do this for our future Region 25 quartet champions," says Dale Syverson, baritone of the quartet. "And who knows? By the time this new trophy is fully loaded, we may have 'grown' another Region 25 Queen of Harmony quartet to donate the one after that."

Sooner Sensation Update

Hello from Moore, Oklahoma!

What a year we have been having. Our chorus is still walking on air. Receiving "Most Improved Chorus" award was quite an honor. We have been informed that our score improvement of 77 points is the 2nd highest any chorus in Sweet Adelines has ever made in the most improved category.

On Saturday, August 20th, Freda Webster, our chorus manager, hosted a potluck dinner at her home in Tuttle, OK. The dinner was in honor of Carolyn Mills who has been serving as interim director. We owe her a big THANK YOU. Several members of Carolyn's chorus, Lawton Harmony, were present. There was plenty of food, singing and fellowship with 44 chorus members and their spouses attending.

Some "Groupies" have begun to show up at our rehearsals. Guess we will have to give them a name other than what we usually call them: "Husbands". We decided on "Harmony Honey Do's". They did an excellent job manning a hot dog booth at the Moore Community Center for the Halloween festivities.

A big welcome goes to Lyn Jacquemot. She has officially become our Assistant Director. Many of you know Lyn and her many accomplishments with Sweet Adelines over the past 35 years and she has the medals to show for it.

In October, Debbie Hogan officially came on board as our Director. Needless to say we are overjoyed. For all of you new ot Sweet Adelines, Debbie was our original Director when our chorus started 15 years ago. She has a fantastic musical background, including becoming a"Queen of Harmony" with Ginger 'n Jazz quartet.

Many former members have returned, and we have had quite a few "newbies" join. We have been hard at work on our music for our Christmas show on December 3rd. Following our show we are planning a big celebration for our 15 year reunion. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of former members.

Look out world, here we come!
